Catalina is a senior majoring in Civil Engineering. She participated in the CEAT Summer Internship Program funded by the Center's FAA Minority Internship Project. Professor Jeff Roesler was her advisor for the summer. Catalina worked on research in the Newmark Civil Engineering Laboratory. Dr. Andres Salas worked directly with Catalina to make her experience a success. The title of her research work was, Assessment of Durability of Concrete Made with Recycled Concrete Aggregates Testing the Chloride Ion Penetration Resistance.

MaQueshia is a junior this Fall '10 at Alabama A&M University majoring in Civil Engineering. She participated in the CEAT Summer Internship Program funded by the Center's FAA Minority Internship Project. Professor Ed Herricks was her advisor for the summer working on a CEAT project in the Newmark Civil Engineering Lab, Urbana, IL. Research Assistants Peter Lazar and Dave Mayor worked with MaQueshia to make her experience a success. MaQueshia worked with a CEAT FAA Project. The title of her final report was: Avian Radar Research and detection of Foreign Object Debris (FOD).

Francesca is a senior this Fall '10 at Northwestern University majoring in Civil Engineering with an Architecture Engineering Design Certificate. She participated in the CEAT Summer Internship Program funded by the Center's FAA Minority Internship Project. Professor Paramita Mondal was her advisor for the summer working on a project in the Newmark Civil Engineering Lab, Urbana, IL. Research Assistants Pete Stynoski and Sravanthi Puligil worked with Francesca. The title of her final report was, Drying Shrinkage of High Performance Concrete.

Gustavo is a senior majoring in Industrial Engineering. He participated in the CEAT Summer Internship Program through the IAESTE Program (International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) funded by the Center's FAA Minority Internship Project. Professor David Lange was his advisor for the summer. Gustavo worked on research in the Newmark Civil Engineering Laboratory. Dan Castaneda worked directly with Gustavo to make his experience a success. The title of his research work was, Development of Residual Stress Measurement for Concrete Pavements Through Slab Testing.

Anthony is a senior majoring in Civil Engineering. He participated in the CEAT Summer Internship Program funded by the Center's FAA Minority Internship Project. Professor Elham Fini (NC A&T) was his advisor for the summer. Anthony worked on research at the Advanced Transportation Engineering Research Lab, UIUC, Rantoul, IL. Boubacar Zada worked directly with Anthony to make his experience a success. The title of his research work was, The Effect of Bio-Modified Binder on the Performance of Hot Mixed Asphalt Containing High Percentage of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP).

Nathan was a senior majoring in Civil Engineering. He participated in the CEAT Summer Internship Program funded by the Center's FAA Minority Internship Project. Professor Bill Buttlar was his advisor for the summer. Nathan worked on research at the Advanced Transportation Engineering Research Lab, UIUC, Rantoul, IL. Graduate Students, Salman Hakimzadeh and Eshan Dave, worked directly with Nathan. The title of his research work was, Interface Bonding Test. Nathan was accepted to the UIUC CEE Graduate Studies Program for this Fall '10. He continues to work with Prof. Buttlar.

Yulian is a junior this Fall '10 majoring in Civil Engineering. He participated in the CEAT Summer Internship Program funded by the Center's FAA Minority Internship Project. Professor Imad Al-Qadi was his advisor for the summer. Yulian worked on research at the Advanced Transportation Engineering Research Lab, UIUC, Rantoul, IL. Graduate Students, Zhen Leng and Hasan Ozer, worked directly with Yulian to make his experience a success. The title of his research work was, Hot-Mix Asphalt Density Estimation using Group Penetrating Radar.

St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Game
LoaizaOn July 22, 2010, the CEAT graduate students and summer interns took a break from their research work to attend a St. Louis Cardinal's baseball game. This was a team building activity for the summer interns and the graduate student mentors. CEAT Director, Professor Lange, also attended the game with the students.

CEAT Summer Internship Program Kick-off Picnic
As the CEAT Summer Internship Program began, the Center hosted a cookout at Hessel Park in Champaign on June 24, 2010. All of the CEAT interns, CEAT graduate students and CEAT faculty were invited to attend.
